A very beautiful setting and a staff team that does everything in their power to please you. An outstanding experience as we have come to expect of any Aman resort. They know what you want before you do and always exceed expectations. Philippe, the GM is always present and makes this place tick. He is supported by an excellent group.

The perfect romantic escape for those looking to get away. Hidden behind a village you pull up to the enchanting Amanwella which sits on the most extravagant beach that would rival any I’ve ever seen. The food is absolutely five star and the service level is top notch. I recommend trying the Sri Lankin food as this is the best you’ll have it while in the country. The staff is exceptional although communication can be tough.

Didn't stay here as it is a little out of my budget but its sad that this big business is trying to ruin the local small family run businesses by using intimidation techniques. We were told this by many locals. This resort wants to own the whole beach & also wanted to close the road access to it which would put many small guest houses out of business. The small businesses around the resort are in no way a threat for a resort of this stature, & offer something very different than 5☆ luxury. They should just live & let live. Leave the locals alone & focus on their own multi million dollar business!

Alas. Our first disappointment in this beautiful country. Walked from our lovely local guest house visit the beautiful beach which the hotel looks onto. Ok so we were a bit cheeky to park ourselves on one of their sunbeds but could not see anything to indicate otherwise. Not for long however, within minutes 2 lads came bounding up the beach and politely asked us to move. We then sat on the empty beach a few metres from the sun beds enjoying the shade. Before long we were approached by a security guard and asked to move to the far side of the beach where the poor folk and peasants gather it would seem. Not quite so much shade at this end. Be careful, the palms at this end are laden with co-co nuts unlike the ones in front of the fancy hotel. I have since spoken to locals who tell me the hotel does not own the beach and should not have asked us to move. Thus we have been left confused. So please place some clear signage to indicate exclusivity to beach. So sad when fancy hotels lay claim to beach in this way. Perhaps Trump could advise on erecting a wall to keep the riff raff out. I hope this I not a sign of things to come on this beautiful coast line. I can't comment on the hotel other than to say it looks very nice (if the higher end is your thing) and is in a perfect location. Rest assured you really will have unspoilt views from your sunbed. For us howeve it's a charming £15 a night guest house nearby, with the most gracious host and wonderful home cooked local food. For a true taste of Sri Lanka, homestays every time. No frills but the the very best hospitality

Sitting on a beautiful coconut fringed bay with aquamarine unpolluted waters the hotel offers large cottages with big verandas a plunge pool and a comfy king size bed. The main restaurant has a fantastic view over the pool and the beach. The service was very good. The food was better than I was expecting. There is another restaurant near the main beach area where the choice is quite limited and does not include Sri Lankan food. It's a very peaceful area with the beach mostly to yourself. Do not expect a night life. It's quiet and has a calming effect. Leaves up to Aman's standards.
