  Needs to get rid of the dog - it attacks people! We booked a few nights at Coconut Island as it was low season and they had a good offer for accomodation. When we arrived however no one was there to greet us and the gate was closed. Instead, we were greeted by a big black angry dog who looked ferocious (picture any fighting dog and you'll know what I mean). Our driver phoned the number that was listed outside and the guy who answered said he was out for lunch but he already had the room ready and the key in the lock for us so by all means, feel free to head in. I asked him about the dog but he said that it was safe, just say shoo shoo dog. We opened the gate and tried to pass but the dog didn't let us - instead he growled and barked even louder. Saying shoo shoo seemed to piss him off even more. After we somehow managed to get passed (walk straight, don't look) i went back to try and close the gate. Then - scariest moment i've had in a while - the dog charges at me - i fall down - get up and run back for dear life being chased by this massive angry black dog! It was terrifying. At some point the owner shows up after which the dog relaxes and he puts him in its home, locked away whilst we are there. That was such a ridiculously unwelcoming experience, if you offer rooms do NOT have a dog guarding the place and tell your guests its fine to go in when you're not there. There two other girls there and they told us they used a spade to hit the dog with as it attacked them as well at some point. Coconut island could have been a nicer experience if it were not for that dog. Either lock it away when you have guests or do NOT offer rooms when you (caretaker of the place) are not around.

  Very nice, comfortable and spacious rooms, great view over the lagoon. ..this place feels like an oasis of peace middle in the tropical nature! Great value for money, breakfast is very nice, especi the sri lankan option! Also offers good and super fresh seafood.
