Would not recommend this place to my worst enemies... We got here after a very long bus trip so we were tired. Asked to see the room. Took a while before they'd let us, which was a little weird. Checked out the room - it was very basic, not the cleanest ever, but seemed acceptable. We made our deal (pretty cheap at 3700lkr / 2 nights / 2 persons). The owner insisted we pay upfront. That should have made all alarm bells go off, but like I said, we were very tired and we foolishly obliged. Got a different room than the one we'd been shown. Within half an hour we found out: - that the towels and bed linen smelled awful (cigarette smoke...?) - that the stuff coming from the faucet and shower smelled as if it was pure bleach (I rinsed a few items of sweaty clothing and my hands were all wrinkly after just a few minutes of being in contact with whatever it was that was coming from the tap) - that water (and sewage?) sprayed literally all over the bathroom when the toilet was flushed We decided to get the heck out of there. As was to be expected, he would not give us our money back (since we'd "used the room"). He wanted us to pay 2000lkr for staying in the room for less than half an hour! In the end, we managed to get back 2000lkr of the 3700 we'd paid. Our worst experience ever in Sri Lanka. Thankfully, most people are kind and decent and this was definitely an exception!
