  If you’re lucky to get to stay at Janaka’s, you’ll know what a gem it is in comparison with other places on Wijaya Beach or even elsewhere in Sri Lanka. Hard to beat location right on the picturesque sunset beach, cozyness of a private guest house, not a hotel, big enough shaded yard for your kids to play safely, authentic thoughtful interior of the rooms, cleanliness, stunning sea view from every room and outstanding breakfast and leisure terrace above the sea. The beach deserves separate praises for its simplicity and seclusion despite proximity to the spoilt touristy Unawatuna - for the unique safe-waters lagoon with giant turtles and tons of fish to snorkel, for atmosphere of a picture-perfect holiday away from touristy crowds (the beach is not empty, unfortunately, it’s too known by now, but it’s definitely still kind of pristine). Finally, I was amazed by Janaka’s smart management, from the smallest details to the staff and overall “picture”. In fact, my little son fell in love with Janaka’s personnel and misses his friend manager Lihure very much. Housekeeping guys do amazing job cleaning your room daily! Old Bernard, the kitchen man, makes mouth-watering spicy rotties and excellent coffee. We had problems with food quality and snobby unpleasant personnel of adjoint Wijaya Beach restaurant, while the right-side Pratha Restaurant was way too expensive for what they had to offer, but we fell in love with the family restaurant Pearly Dream Cabana located on fishermen Dalawella Beach to the right from Janaka’s after the huge rocks. Bernard’s son Chaminde took us by his tuk-tuk on wonderful jungle road trips (just turn inland from the main road and don’t be afraid to explore) and to visit multiple Buddhist temples. Every day felt like luxurious holiday, all we wanted was to stay longer. Anyway, we so very recommend Janaka’s place and definitely would like to come back.

  The rooms are simple and clean. Good service the owner is helpful, and available. There is wooden deck that is just perfect to gawk at the magnificent sunset each evening. The beach is barely crowded, clean and pretty.

  Great views. Hospitality staff always ready to help you. Apartments is much more better than you expect(there are no info about air conditioning and fridge on booking but it is). I am recommending.
