One of the best elephant experiences in Sri Lanka, we went to 5 different National Parks doing jeep safaris so I'm quite qualified to say this. The price is not cheaper than the price if you go to the front gate to talk to freelancer driver. But what makes a tour is the driver. Kalum's been working as a guide here since he was 13, and he is quite a environmentalist who care about those elephants. So he knows the herds whereabout better. And he is very talkative and dropped a lot of useful knowledge about elephants here in Sri Lanka. We did a morning Minneriya safari and after Kaudulla safari with Kalum. Awesome and we saw more than 100 elephants in that day, even witnessing a whole herd of elephants of more than 60 in number passing by and going into lake to take a bath. Time of my life. One tip, the best time for elephant safari is always afternoon, where the elephants get out of the shades and go to lakes to have a relaxation.

Our guide was interning, but participating in research about elephants in the wildlife reserve. He had amazing stories to tell, along with very interesting facts about the elephants. During the safari we saw approximately 200 elephants, but we were told beforehand that this number can vary greatly, depending on how the herd moves. Besides elephants, buffaloes, chameleon and several other species were seen. Well worth the money. Would definitely recommend this to everyone to try out.
