  Really enjoyed our stay here - the owners were helpful and attentive and were always pleased to go the extra mile in sorting out travel or logistics. The hotel is ideally placed for Sigiriya and Kaudulla and/or Mineriya National Park, both of which we absolutely loved and feature as real highlights from a month in Sri Lanka. Be aware that, while the owners are helpful, they do prefer to make bookings on your behalf - e.g. booking a safari driver and Ayurvedic massage- both of which we presume meant that they could skim some profit off the top as either middle man or on commission. We didn't mind this so much though as it was hardly a fortune and made life easier. The only real downside for me was the amount of flies around the place - due to its leafy spot there was a lot of flies buzzing around at meal times. Not enough to lower my rating of the place by a definite annoyance after 3 days!

  Very good place to stay and to visit all the best spots in the area: elephants in the parks, Polonnaruwa Sigiriya, Dambulla, Ritigala... The drivers from the hotel are cheap and very very good (professional and knowledgeable). The owner is a source of information on Sri Lanka history and political situation. (he has studied in france, hence the name of the hotel.) You can walk to the center of the city to catch buses to Polonnaruwa. For the rest, do call the drivers, they are the best.
