  Here can visit the world Largest Asian wild Elephant gathering. Some times its up to 350+ Elephant gathering in August.

  This national park is small compared to the others in Sri lanka.You can see a lot of elephants and birds in the park than yala,wilpattu etc.The park is small and you can take a 2-3 hour safari ride rather than spending a whole morning or an afternoon.I have visited the park three times and I always saw more than 150 elephants in one ride.August is the best month to visit this place because all the wildlife in nearby other parks come here in search of water and food

  We saw hundreds of wild elephants at an event called 'the Gathering'. This is more common in late August. Visit between 3pm and 6pm for the spectacle, as the huge creatures emerge from the jungle to cool off in Minneriya Tank (a big Reservoir).
