  Got treatments few years back. This is the geatest eye hospital all in sri lanka. Professional doctors available here. Eye Hospital has a long history in the health care of Sri Lanka. This is the tertiary care hospital with the centre of excellence which was established in 1905. It gives services to all categories of all eye related problems either medically or surgically. Patients are referred from all parts of the island for the specialized management. The practice of Ophthalmology involves the promotion of eye health, preservation of sight provocation of blindness, restoration of vision, enhancement of abnormal vision and enhancement of fractional vision .The National Eye Hospital of Colombo provide the above mentioned service to the entire nation since the inception 1962 from the current premises. Receiving the certificate of Merit at the Annual Health Excellence Award - 2010, is one of the achievements to prove our services in eye care. It is because of the hard work of the entire staff of the hospital for this achievement. Establishment of the Eye Bank at the hospital premises itself is one of the mile stone achieved in this era to provide corneal tissue for the corneal transplantation. Providing the spectacles for the elders and the school children from the hospital itself note the completeness of services to the patients. We started provide free intra ocular lens to the needy people with the help of donors. The Out Patient Department of the eye hospital also works round the clock to give maximum service to the nation with extension of OPD hours. This institution OPD is running till 8 pm to see all the routine eye problem while the casualty patients are seen for 24 hours. The rehabilitation of the eye care is given through the Low Vision Clinic which gives maximum services to make use the remaining residual vision to live and look after them. This institution is under the administration of a director and a deputy director with eight consultant ophthalmologist, one vitro retinal surgeon one pathologist, two anesthetists, one consultant resident physician and about hundred medical officers. There are special clinics for retinal patients, diabetic, glaucoma, and post operative patients. Two retinal units are functioning under the supervision of two Consultant Ophthalmologists. There are team of ophthalmic technologist and orthopist handling the paramedical service such as refraction and orthoptic assessment. Medical laboratory technicians, pharmacist and cardiographers also give their service to the ophthalmic field in the management. The staff of the hospital works with the hearts to make this institution as the best eye care producer in the South Asia.

  Good place for eye treatment in Sri Lanka ..... good doctors... good staffs... good service.... this is government hospital... but government have to provide some more facilities to this hospital... they have helped many times for my eyes also.... thank you very much... and your services are much appreciated....

  The best place for eye treatment in Sri lanka for free of changes. It seems like they got all the technologies that need to be treat to every kind of eye patients. Unlike many other government organizations they got a computerized patient registration system which can be developed further. It seams like they are only using the system for tickets issuing purpose only. However there is one thing I always noted around from 2010 they never starting to work on time
