  You can get fresh fish there but you have to bear the smell. Variety of fish availability. One of the busiest fish market in sri Lanka and open daily. Good fresh fish for very good price. Fish available always. you can get the fish night time also.

  Go before dawn to see the day's catch delivered to the market and parceled out by bicycle, by tuk-tuk, by hand, to be sold all over the country each day. After then sun comes up, head to the regular street market to see the land's bounty. Betel nut, anyone?

  yes this is a fish market.if you can't bear the smell of it "don't visit. this place is vibrant and with full of activities .the fishermen in the area bring their daily catch over here . this is just not the place where locals buy their fish ,this is also where all the trading happen as well . this place is very busy from early mornings to early afternoon with lorries and traders come to pick up their stock to transport to other cities of the island. near by beaches are dotted with small fishermen huts where they dry the fish on sandy beaches at bare sunlight. nearby prison (former fort) and the lagoon is worth some photo shoot in the evening.
