  This has a long history and goes back to 1300 years as a temple. However, this was first built as a palace and it was belongs to a well deserve war Hero, Alankashwara. He was not a king, but a great war hero, who fort with Arya Chakrawarthi whocame from India and even legendary Chinese at that time. As stated, this has a long history with respect to Sri Lankan history, with lots of bench marks. As per the known history, the first gun fire was happened in this place in Sri Lanka and that was buy a Chinese person who came to attack the Sri Lankan king at that time. Anyway, this places was used by many Sinhala hings and the count is around 11. The final King was King Raigambandara and after him, this was fully destroyed by foreign attackers. Then again this abundant place was converted to a temple by a Buddhist monk who tried to travel to Sri Padhaya and with the invitation of the villages, he started staying there and then later this was developed as a fully fledged temple. Not only that, he further developed many temples around this. Further as per the records, the Buddhist Monk then established a school here as at that time only Missionary schools were there. That was a 4th registered sinhala school in the country. There are many very well established archaeological points inside. The pool was found to be built on a timber deck and that shows the creativity and the technology had in ancient Sri Lanka. This pool is still functioning and it was found that the water as channeled to this from the near by tank, Uyanwatta Tank. Further, this as a nice filtering arrangement with a separate cleaning tank. However, this place has not received the due recognition.
