  I'd gone to the Petha district of Colombo Fort (wholesale region) to get a good price; tried to buy a good Japanese mountain bike, but really I just bought the frame—they'd stripped all the parts and replaced them with junk before selling it to me at full price. Noticed too late that my derailer was (seriously) "Shomani" brand. Roshani sells real bikes, with real gear; the prices are slightly higher (as in, $175 vs $150 USD), but the owner takes his work seriously and the rides are in top condition. Highly recommended.
