  One of the famous temple in Valvettiththurai, enshrining goddess Amman. Next to this temple is Lord Shiva's temple. In the old days all ships sailed away, comes back to the village in the festival days, which starts in the month of April. Each day's evening festival is special, where goddess Amman comes in different model vehicles around the temple. As this temple's decoration for the goddess is famous, it's a gorgeous view to see Amman goddess in night with all the lighting and decorations. The last festival day, generally called "Theerththa thiruvizha" or water cutting festival; is called "Inthiravizha" here (meaning the festival of Indra). It's celebrated in the evening in the whole town, having many different entertaining events through around 1 km stretch of coastal area road, from musical/dance events to amusement events going till early morning. People come from far away to see this festival, even migrated people from this town come to Sri Lanka to participate in this festival season.
