  The premier institution providing education enriched with Hindu traditions which was established in 1923 for imparting education in a strictly Hindu atmosphere. Most people of the present generation may not be aware of the birth and the growth of this institution through the years. It is with the intention of enlightening such people that we present here a history of the College and pertinent information about its founder, Mrs. ThangamahShanmugampillai and her spouse, who together invested all their resources for the establishment of this college The early part of the 20th century was a period when the modern city life was unheard of, when life was centered on villages and horse carriages were the sign of prosperity. It was a time when English education and English culture were things sought after. However, Trincomalee, famous for its natural harbour and Koneswara temple, produced many service-oriented philanthropists who were keen on preserving the Tamil language and Tamil culture. This school started functioning with23 students in 1923 and gradually improved and developed to cater more than 1000 students and taken over by the Government followed by the provision of National School status during the year 1996.
