    The room was clean and nicely furnished. I was confused about the type of accommodation this establishment was. I was looking for a hotel, and Orbitz had this listed as a hotel, and I paid about 50 USD per night to stay here. When I arrived in Colombo, the first taxi driver could not find it on the map and asked for a phone number. There was none listed. So the taxi driver thought he found it, and dropped me off at the wrong hotel at 2:30 am. A staff member at the second hotel got another taxi and he found it. I discovered then that the accommodation was more like an AirBnB. It was a private residence rather than a hotel. No fresh soap, no shampoo, no hotel services. Onsite was a young man who might normally be a nice guy, but the situation made him defensive. He didn't speak English very well, and kept arguing with me about everything from not needing to supply fresh soap to not being able to make a sufficient breakfast. I got an over-cooked egg for the first breakfast which I asked him to re-do. Then I got a decent omelette the second time around and he had to go to the market for instant coffee. They argued about the reservation, not recognising that I had booked on Orbitz, even though I had paperwork. I explained my expectations and the men who run this place kept interrupting me with irrelevant details about the website where I booked. They kept telling me to call Orbitz and never offered to call them with me. They just kept saying how that "was not their job". I looked for another hotel, but they had been booked. At one point, the you man onsite and I started a useful conversation about to make situation better, and I said that I expected a better breakfast and suggested juice. He decided that wouldn't talk to me after that and went into his room. The people who run this hotel seem to have the idea that customer service means defensiveness and arguments with the customer. In sum, the house was nice, the location was interesting, but staff and management do not have enough resolution skills to provide adequate customer service.
