  Road condition is not good as expected. But the view from there is awesome and wonderful. You should go there with appropriate cloths since this is a buddhist temple.

  It is a religious place.Kandy city can be viewed perfectly because it is on the top of a mountain.

  Superb view of the sacred city of Kandy! Must visit. For your information, the road will be shown by the google maps is wrong. I ended up at a wrong place, come to the vicinity and ask for directions.

  This is a center for carrying out national as well as international Buddhist relations. Many tourists are attracted by this temple. The monastery was started in 1972 ,the founder was the ven.Ampitiye Dammarama Thero. He decided to build the big buddha's statue and started to build it with the peoples donations in year 1972 he could finish the construction of the budda's statue and open on 1 st of January 1993 president premadasa was open the statue. The story comes with its name. In the days of Kandy kingdom there was a sound coming from this mountain, which terrified people every day. People said that it is an evil gnome shouting for a sacrifice. The king decide to give a beautiful virgin as the sacrifice every year. It was a minister who told the king to make this sacrifice because he him self was the evil gnome. One year the nominated woman was the girl friend of minister’s son. In that night, people took the woman to the mountain and left he their. Later her boyfriend came and rescued her and fought the gnome. Then the boy himself made the same sound that ghome made, and the people thought the sacrifice was accepted. The couple left the town in the same night.
