The free tour was super quick and unimpressive. Tea shop is well stocked but pricey items. The cafe is a nice place to unwind. Venturing out into the tea fields is a great idea but beware of the tea pickers who all beckon you to come see them but really want money and will ask directly. The two trips I’ve taken to Sri Lanka involved visits here and not by choice. For whatever reason, drivers take tourists here. I believe drivers are paid or compensated in someway. Especially as my driver almost forced me to buy something at the tea shop.

Very cozy place. Around 100 years old tea factory now converted as a educational place. Free of charge they explain the way of tea production.

A great insight to have their tea guide to explain the process. Though inside the factory looks old but each stage/station is clearly labelled. They even practise go green eco practice and I must say I'm impressed. On the other hand, I felt workers are not protected in the factory. They do not wear gloves or mask as they are breathing in particles entity from the tea leaves during the filtering, roasting or separation process. Tea without milk is free. Cakes are chargeable but it is very affordable, ranging Rupee 80-100 only.

We started out at the shop which was one of the most sad places I have ever been, the staff seem to have been drained of all joy of live. I don't blame them seeing they have to say the same few lines over and over again, not much interaction there just there (in hordes) to sell you tea nothing more. The tour was interesting tho I give them that, our guide was well spoken, new her stuff and did her best. The factory was empty because it was a Saturday. Overall did not like the place and the atmosphere, good tea tho to try.

Entrance for a factory tour is completely free. The tour was so interesting and our guide was fabulous! The tea at the end of the tour was lovely too, and the shop had all the varieties that were discussed on the tour. We came here on New Year’s Day so the factory wasn’t actually working. Would highly recommend a visit, making sure it’s not a local holiday.
