::Before It was a place of military, it was a housing scheme owned by the State Fertilizer Manufacturing Corporation. My father was an engineer who worked there, and this housing scheme was given a the living quarters for many engineers. Some of the fondest memories of my life was here. I remember the swimming pool with an attached club, where the parties never stopped. The scheme was packed with facilities like tennis courts, basketball courts and many other amazing features. There were many play areas for kids, and kids were able to freely wonder about the small streets, in their bicycles, because the place was secured. Its sad to hear about the Batalanda massacre, that followed during the JVP era. This place was heaven on earth, and after Fertilizer shut down and we all left, the place was used by the government for shady events, and many horrors. Of life.... I would give anything, to live in these houses again, to swim in that pool, to play with other kids in those playgrounds.....when Im down and depressed, I think of the times I grew up there, and I cheer up,
