::Best dive experience ever. Although it was my first time, instructor made me feel very safe and confident from minute 1. Very experienced instructor who dived in many places around the world. I will definitely do it a few times during my next visit. Since diving here with him I dived elsewhere and yet to find better instructor or the spot.

::My partner and I are both advanced open water divers and came across Ram's dive shop from the beach. The instant we met him we knew we were on to a good bloke and very experienced, quality diver and international dive trainer. We had a great chat to start and he asked us to come back that evening for some fresh grilled fish, beer and some tunes. The fish was delicious and we had a really nice evening chatting to him and listening to his stories. We ended up diving 6 times with Ram over 3 days all around Dutch Bay. We started with a deep dive, then went to Swami rock (which has statues from a temple that collapsed into the water). Then we did the barrier reef and Caves! The 3rd day we decided to go back the Swami Rock and did an incredible night dive back at Caves! We saw so many tropical fish, heaps of white eyed moray eels (Ram will show you how to scratch their sides), Giant moray and a Leopold moray. We saw 2 octopuses, a bunch of rays, yellow fin tuna, bat fish, 4 large cuttlefish, lion fish, clownfish, nudiebraches, pipefish, mantis shrimp, lobsters, schools of banner fish and other large schools you can swim through. Ram is a great instructor and we had complete trust in him. After each day we either had dinner with him on the beach or he took us out to show us a bit more of the town of Trincomalee. We were there in mid September so the weather was perfect ( some small storms in the late afternoon) and seas were calm. Dutch Bay is much quieter then uppavelli or nillavelli and has an excellent beach. Highly recommend! And make sure to try the vegetable curry roti!!

::Cheap diving prices (£48 for 2 dives: 9500 rupees), and friendly/fun if no frills diving. Diving sites were good - but check time of year as affects visibility!
