  This school was found in 17th March 1917. In 1928 the school was named as Ferguson High School in memorial of father John Ferguson.father John Ferguson was a brother of Hon. A.M.I. who started the first English newspaper and dedicated his life to encourage the company of Baptist Missionary. Celebrated 100 years of excellence in 27th of March 2017 with the participation of President Maithreepala Sirisena as chief guest. This is probably the best school in Sabaragamuwa province. Boys are here until grade 5. Girls have 1-13 grades to study. A great place to go as a school. This school has more than 150 teachers as I know. Not only academic education but also sports and lot of extra curricular activities available here. This school was my junior school.

  Ferguson High School – Ratnapura Ferguson High School is one of the four High Schools in Sri Lanka which is situated in the middle of the Ratnapura town. It was first started in 1917 as Baptist Missionary English School by Mrs. Florie Radley. In present it has primary level, Ordinary Level and Advanced Level in Science, Arts, Commerce and Bio Tech streams in both Sinhala and English mediums.
