Great place to see the locals making tea. The tour is free and you get a lovely cup of tea at the end. There is no pressure to tip your guide or buy anything from the shop, but of course we did!

we bought silver tip tea which was very expensive(50g cost nearly Rs 3000) and found few long black hair inside the tea packet. It was very unpleasant to drink it.As we look local but we came from Australia for a holiday. We felt they treat well for foreigners at the front office, had to call few people to get the tour start. welcome wasn't very warm for locals. Tour was well explained ,great service they didn't charge for tour ,offer tea pot for free as well.

Very interesting and informative tour at the Geragama Tea Factory. It is fascinating seeing the machines up close and getting explanations throughout the walking tour. The guides are very patient and friendly, and they let you get as close to things as they can allow. Really helps offer insight about the entire tea production process. At the end you can buy teas, but, as many have mentioned, there wasn't any real pressure to do so. However, our group was happy (and very willing) to do so, and it's nice leaving with tea that feels a bit more personal. Definitely recommend visiting if you are in Kandy.

I've visited so many Tea Gardens cum Factories in Darjeeling, Ooty/Nilgiri hills, Assam, etc. in India but nowhere I've been shown the demonstration so nicely! I'm totally thrilled that the sales persons are so cordial and patient here. :)
