  We had a mixed experience at Highland Villa. Our first night was more of a two star experience and the second night more of a four star experience. On the first night, the internet didn't work, there was a black out and the room was very hot, and there was some kind of all night chanting ceremony nearby (not the hotel's fault) which collectively resulted in us not sleeping very much that night. The second night the internet still didn't work in the evening but there were no blackouts. We've stayed in many hotels without A/C - but at this elevated price point you would expect to not have to deal with this. According to management, a generator has been ordered from India which would address the problem. If there were mosquito nets, the guests could open the doors when this happens in the interim but there are not any nets at the moment. The villa has some very positive aspects - the grounds are beautiful, there are two very nice pools, and the view from the upper villas is exceptional. The rooms are large and comfortable. The meals were quite good. Management is helpful in answering questions and arranging onward transportation. It is close to a small and fairly secluded beach. Some things to keep in mind: You need to order meals in advance as the ingredients are purchased fresh from the market. If you want to be spontaneous or don't know what time you will be back, best to eat in town. If you arrive at 14:00 or so, lunch will not be available as you were not able to pre-order. So plan on eating in town or bringing some snacks with you if you are tired although fruit plates will likely be available.

  Very well designed buildings. Amazing value for the standard of finish and detail. Beautiful big and airy rooms with balconies, large halls and dining areas. 2 pools giving the feeling of having the place to oneself. Lovely staff, returning next week. Thank you Roshan for making our stay so peaceful and relaxed.
