::Hotel has clearly seen better days. We arrived and were upgraded but..we paid for the upgrade as they had work going on..if a hotel has a problem with a room i booked i do not expect to pay extra because they have not planned another room. We booked a tour and were told a driver would explain the places we visited. On the day the driver spoke no English. We rang the hotel to cancel they asked for more money for a guide..i refused and said cancel and they sent one of the hotel team to correct this. Ok but why send this driver to begin with? We booked half board then at check out they had added the food on top of the bill. We enquired for a car to next destination and they quoted 3 times the price we ended up paying elsewhere! All in all generally trying to rip off western tourists! We had 2 nights and couldn't wait to get away. The staff are way too overbearing and just hang around you. Its not peaceful and i would not stay here again. Poorly managed hotel.

::Nice place to stay at Anuradhapura. The hotel consists of more than 20 differently themed rooms. The food is also great and thr customer service is superb. Highly recommond to stay.

::t's a bit difficult to rate the White House Hotel in Anuradhapura. For a start, the hotel isn't finished yet. Only the ground floor and 5 rooms are ready. Building activities didn't bother us, as there's no building being done a the moment. The owner of the hotel, entrepreneur and local music hero Dr Chamy is in the final stages of arranging funds, so the building activities will pretty soon restart and we don't know how this will affect the operation of the hotel. We would love to see the penthouses finished with 360 degrees windows. There are some things we really like about the hotel and some we dislike. The manager Khaan: enthousiastic, helpfull, good english speaking, willing to please, willing to learn, almost always around; 5 stars. Staff: very friendly, almost no english, and pretty incompetent as waiters. 3 stars. Beds: 5 stars. Rooms: 3 stars. Enough room, but no chairs, cupboards or bedside tables Cleaning: 3 stars. Free pickup and dropoff service: 5 stars. Breakfast: enough, but how difficult can it be to get everything on the table at the same time, how difficult is it no to burn a piece of toast or to clean a pineapple; lousy coffee even by SL standards: 2 stars. Free laundry: 4 stars. Bathroom: how can you install the shower over the sink. In a familyroom of 4 so the morningprayers take ages. 1 star. Parking cars in restaurant: 0 stars (we should deduct stars here). Food: limited menu, some of it reasonably done: 3 stars. Price/quality: it is quite cheap: 4 stars If Khaan stays enthousiastic, motivates the staff, gets the act of the place together, then, hopefully, once the building is finished, the White House may evolve into a nice hotel. For now 3 stars, going on 4.

::We were there in 23 and 24.Rooms are superb and staff is helpful. But with meals we are not happy at all. When we go for dinner most of the dishes were over and following day breakfast almost finished when we go for breakfast. We have to sit and wait about 30 minutes with our kids until they serve some bread and noodles. Three families were in our group, all are professionals, but we all not happy about the amount we spend.

::Really nice service from staff. Really nice room. But, the attached to the wall hairdryer is not usable because the power connecter does not fit it. The same with water boiler. Any many more small things. Restaurant/breakfast area is like a big room for big arrangement and not eating. So it's awful build the hotel. The door out to hall way is like I blanket in minimizing sound.. Nice staff.
