  It's really sad to notice how the historical places are treated in Sri Lanka. This famous place was hit by a lorry recently and has not paid any attention after that to rectify the place. This is a masonry structure with a very old timber roof. The roof structure shows the creativity of the carpenters, who lived about 200-300 years before. Kandy era is very famous for timber work and this is too a place of remarkable timber detailing. These umbalams are built for a short stay for the people who used the nearby road and who traveled long distance. So, these were built with special attention to the need. However, this space was divided in the two sections ( rooms) and that itself is something to study further.

  A place with long history but decaying after resisting the modern world. Roads are expanding to par with the demand for more lanes and historic places like these are in endangered. Located near to the Kandy-Colombo A1 Road from the colonial era , will shelter many footers and bull carts in the past but the prominence of the place faded along with the modernization

  Historic wayside rest that is on the side of Colombo to Kandy (A1) Road. Build on early 18th century.

  This is a ancient rest house. Anyone can rest here without any charge. This place doesnot have any phone number. This place is very popular among tourists all over the world due to its location. It is located in front of beautiful hill side view. Recommend for everyone.
