::Lovely hotel, with extremely welcoming owners and staff, who share the story of this beautiful colonial house and give you a tour. They went out of their way to accommodate us, setting up the breakfast tables in the garden, serving us delicious Sri Lankan food and international alternatives. A nice swimming pool, a beautiful garden. it is a bit out of the center of Kandy (reachable by tuktuk for 500 roupies). I take a star out because the house can be a bit noisy and not perfectly clean at times, due to its old age. Really friendly accommodating staff, again.

::If you want peace and tranquillity away from the hustle and bustle of Kandy this is an amazing option which was the British Governors residence from 1844 until Sri Lankas independence in 1948. Since then it's become an 8 bedroom boutique hotel which has been sympathetically restored and reminds you of a mini Raffles No WiFi or TVs in the rooms helps you to detox from the Stresses and Strains of life quickly. There is Tea and Coffee available during the day - you just need to ask the staff. Breakfast is excellent and caters for all tastes. A comprehensive evening meal menu is available too. The hotel does not have a bar however they do not mind you bringing in your own. The nearest off licence is 20 minutes away! The pool and garden helps with the heat of the sun. A doctor comes in daily to provide massages. There is 24 hours a day Security on site which adds to peace of mind. Kandy is a 25 minute tuk tuk ride away which can be interesting! Cost is 1000 lkr one way to the Queens Hotel. Do come.
