::Important part of Negombo life is live on fish. It is food and income and employment. The fish market and the beach around it are well worth a short morning visit. The market itself is interesting just to see the variety of fish caught - be prepared for the smell though !

::It is worth a visit, a local fish market that is open for everyone and shows you how the fish are presented and also sometimes prepared. Really cool place to come. At best come early! Also it does not only show the market where the fish are sold, you can also access the drying area where tons of fish are spread along to dry. Really a great experience!

::Amazing aroma to be missed. Bloodied pools to skip around. But the buzz of activity, sights of seafood fresh or drying out in the sun is a photographer's delight. The array of seafood is our in-house chef's delight as she sprung into action picking up kilos of crabs, prawns, squid and fish for our home cooked dinner.

::If you can deal with the smell, it is quite an exciting place to go. You can see different kinds of processing fish including large areas for drying fish on the beach. It's actually interesting what happens to the fish, caught by those famous Negombo boats. The fish market is easy to find and probably one of the few interesting spots of Negombo.
