Ranmasu uyana is situated little away from the Isurumuniya temple car park. I went there with a friend of mine in the late afternoon. This ancient water park used by the kings in the Anuradhapura Kingdom is known to be the place where prince Saliya met his love Ashokamala. Entire park is built by carved stone blocks which are positioned precisely. In rear side of the first pond on a rock wall you could see bunch of elephants playing with water which is an amazing stone carving. In the back side of one of the huge bolders you could see the famous star gate. There are numerous theories explaining this. The park is kept very nicely by the authorities. You could find newly built sanitation facility in the entrance of the park. If you go there in the late afternoon you'll be treated with a beautiful sunset over the Tissa tank which is right next to the park.

Superb example of ancient garden design. Garden is located below tissa wewa tank and brick layed channels direct water around the garden to cool the surrounding. Two separate ponds are there for king and queen. Underground pipes circulate gravitate fed water to pools but most of them does not function now.

This place is said to be the garden which Saliya and Asokamala (the ancient prince and his lover) spend their time together. There are lots of pools with amazing rock crafts and ruines of buildings. Another important mark found here is the Star gate. Star gate is believed to be posses mysterious power.

Ranmasu Uyana is a park in Sri Lanka. It sits on approximately 40 acres (16 ha), and is a noted example of Sri Lankan garden architecture of the pre-Christian era. According to an inscription found in Vessagiriya, the water to the park was supplied by Tessa Wewa and then released to rice fields around Isurumuni Vihara. Claims published on the internet and television documentaries that a carving within the park known as Sakwala Chakraya it was an interface or stargate "between humans and some intelligent species from outer space" have been called "absurd" by archeologists who suggest the carving could simply be an early world map.
