::My experience at Rockhill Meditation Center was excellent. I just completed a 10 day Vipassana meditation there and am leaving grateful and appreciative of everything I received and experienced there. Like many things in Sri Lanka it is humble and spartan, a Buddhist hermitage first, which set on top of a beautiful hill very close to Kandy. The meals were simple but plentiful, the rooms basic but suitable. Know that your 'donation' goes to support this special place as well as help expand and upgrade the entire facility. You can see it happening with your own eyes; the money paid is used for the benefit of all future participants. Bhante, the head monk and teacher, is one who speaks of the Dhamma from a place of genuine experience, not from conventional conceptualization with regurgitated knowledge from books or other teachers' teachings. He is very approachable, knowledgeable, humorous, tells wonderful stories, and knows exactly what each student needs. It is a special place. Visit and experience for yourself.
