::We went on the suggestion of our driver. It is very interesting and yes free to enter but at the end they try to Upsell you on so much product. I did buy some. But we felt a bit off at the end. And it was way too long. I’m not sure now in hindsight if buying at local markets is as good an option. And cheaper. So go but beware of sales tactic.

::We were taken here by our driver and unfortunately fell for the scam. After taking the tour of the garden (where a magic hair removal herb that smelt lovely was put on my arm) we were treated to the ‘free’ massages. We really liked Dilip our guide, which makes it all the more disappointing that he was part of the con. We were sold (under pressurised conditions, someone standing over you hearing everything you say to each other) the magic hair remover and some oil for Skin issues. When I got the stuff home, the hair remover which cost £20 at the spice garden, was actually the cheapest drugstore hair removeal cream (that smells awful) decanted into a plastic tub that from any UK pharmacy usually costs about £5 (and smells better). More fool us for falling for the scam but don’t let them get you. Don’t go!!!

::Altho we knew going in that it would be a sales pitch, it was still entertaining and not particularly high pressure. It was great to see and smell the plants that grow in Sri Lanka and the complementary (except tip) 15 min massage was better than my $40, 60 min massage at a nice hotel in a Chennai. I would recommend a stop if you are driving by!

::Nothing to do with government, it is nothing official. As other people have said, only stopped here cause driver suggested.... Keep driving!! True the guides know their stuff but ....

::Except for the sales pitch, the place is a cool area to learn about specific herbs grown in Srilanka, it's a rather short trip round.
