  Water Supply & Sanitation Improvement project is implemented in November 2015, with the objective of increasing access to piped water services & improving sanitation in 7 districts of Sri Lanka. The project expect to provide potable water to 400,000 population in districts of Mullaithivu, Kilinochchi, Monaragala, Badulla, Rathnapura, Kegalle & Nuwara Eliya. Also 40,000 latrine facilities will be provided to project beneficiaries. The project is funded by International Development Fund with the amount of 165USD (Rs2300Mn). The project is to be completed by 2020. 25,000 urban households, 65,000 rural households & 16,000 estate households are covered by the project. Moreover Rs.1200Mn is allocated for rehabilitation of existing water supply schemes. The project will increase the water supply coverage by 8%-10%. Another significant outcome is construction of 7 septage treatment plants in aforesaid districts with the provision of Gully bowsers to urban councils in project areas.
