::This is a historic place and was a famous tea/rubber plantation. This place is historic because a Mahogany tree planted by the Ernesto Che Guevra on August 8, 1959 during his official visit to Sri Lanka as minster of Industries, Socialist Cuban Republic is in this estate. Now the place is not in use and still we can see the glory of the past.

::Yahalakele Estate has historical importance due to Che Guevara's visit to Sri Lanka. He visited to Yahalakele Estate on August 7, 1969 and planted a mahogany tree. Still you can see the tree and find some more details such as photos, monument, etc. Yahalakele Estate was a rubber plantation.
