  Galahitiyawa Computer Resource Center is one of the Computer Resources Centers (CRCs) created island wide to work as the forerunner of introducing ICT education into the government school system during the 1994 - 1999 period of school modernization. The staff was given local and foreign ICT exposure and encouraged to acquire post graduate qualification in ICT. They were assigned the task of maintaining CRC without the provision of recurring expenditure by government coffers. The idea is from a guideline put forward by the world bank project which provided the initial physical resources for CRCs through a concessionary loan scheme to the government of Sri Lanka. Due to the success of the process of recruitment almost all the CRCs are functioning to the date.
