::Amongst the busy and narrow streets near Kandy Lake, I visited the quaint Earth Bound Creations showroom. It was on opening weekend and the shop was attracting many foreign buyers seeking to support local and eco-friendly enterprises for their travel shopping. The is a welcome addition for the tourist shopper willing to venture beyond the Queen's Hotel and the tourist attractions' souvenir shops. The quality of the attractive and unique paper products is excellent and the items for sale ranged from cards to home decor items, made from recycled newspaper and magazines collected locally. In addition to focusing on the environment, the enterprise creates job opportunities for many women in the nearby vicinity. I noticed the shop was also carrying a few imported knick-knacks from the Philippines and elsewhere. So if you are looking to buy Srilankan, be sure to check you are buying their products.
