  The Equip Unit Trust, herein after referred as EUT, was established in the year 1996 as a Manufacturing industry for steel and wooden furniture. The Factory is located in Chunnakam. The EUT manufacturing various steel and wooden furniture such as Office Tables, Computer Tables, racks, steel cabinets, Filing Cabinets and other Office and household furniture for the last fifteen years. At the beginning the EUT started its operations as a repairing firm for Office Furniture with less than ten employees. The activities of the EUT were badly affected during the period of war situation. It was very difficult to get the raw materials due to the closure of the A9 land route. Lack of Electricity supply and fuel, difficulties in bringing machineries to Jaffna via ships, and uncertainty in the region are some of the factors which affected the development of the EUT. However the EUT sustained and developed its programmes using the existing recourses. At present it grown up as a manufacturing Factory and having show rooms with thirty eight employees in all categories. The business has been expanded with three showrooms and a factory. The products of the EUT have captured the market in most of the government Departments of the Northern Province, within the short period. The University of Jaffna, Ministerial departments of the Northern Province, Education Departments, Schools, Banks, District Secretariat Office, and Divisional Secretarial Offices are some of the important customers of the EUT.
