My partner and I recently stayed at Kikili House. When we arrived, we found ourselves feeling very disappointed by the cleanliness of our room. Lots of dust had settled over the netting of our bed, dead bugs covered the bathroom windowsill and the bathroom lamp was covered in mould. We decided to stay the night anyway but unfortunately things didn’t improve - the aircon wasn’t working properly so it was a struggle to sleep through the night. In the morning, we decided to call it a day and leave early. We informed the staff we we’re checking out 1 day sooner, and to our surprise no one asked why! All of this was so disappointing. We then emailed them directly about our complaint. They didn’t even try to compensate anything. We’ve never had to write a review like this before but feel we need to tell people what happened before you decide to stay here.

Bonne literie.

Need to walk a distance to main market and fort. To travel by taxi cost 150. Dining in here cost 1500/pax Quite costly for a home stay.

My absolute favorite accommodation in all of Sri Lanka! First, the owners are some of the most lovely, animated, and caring people I've ever met and they ensure everything is sorted out properly. The decor is unlike anything I've ever seen; colors, patterns, and trinkets sprawl out throughout the entire space creating this beautiful and lively home (It very much felt like a proper home)! The local staff are remarkable and the breakfast was definitely a highlight (something about homemade granola makes the rest of my day much more adventurous). Although Galle is known for Galle Fort, I cannot stress just how nice it was to venture and spend the night outside of the Fort. It's less expensive, more cultural, and shows that there is much more outside of the walls of the Fort in Galle. This is surely a property you cannot miss!
