  Maria Villa was a great starting point since its only about 15 minutes from the airport, and you want to relax after a long flight before travelling further. The owners were absolutely lovely and did everything they could to make your stay pleasant. Janet is one of the most thoughtful hosts I've encountered during all years of travelling. The house is newly built with good AC, and quite close to the beach, and not too far away from the main road with restaurants. If you wanna have a tuktuk they will call the neighbours, and its 200 rupee (1 euro). I only booked 2 days, but ended up staying 1 week before I left Sri Lanka as well. Also some of the income goes to a special needs kids home they're funding, and I went to visit, was really nice to see their hard work. Oh btw! There is an amazing little bakery that sells delicious lentil falafels and fresh roti for like 0.1 euro each, it has a green and pink neon light on the other side of the street (its not on tripadvisor). Enjoy! Ps. Google maps shows the location a bit wrong, its further up the street if you walk north, ok the left side. Opposite a tailor.
