  Architecturally one of the best buildings in Sri Lanka. But looking at the attitudes and disciplines of the people who spend hours while doing nothing but just insulting each other (some are sleeping as well!), it seems like a pit of pigs. Used to represent the leadership of Sri Lanka, but not a handful of people of them have done and passed GCE A/L examination (which consider as a qualification for a minimal work in Sri Lanka whom servers under them) and destroying the future of the country.

  A place I love to be. Sri Lankan Parliament consists of two hundred and twenty-five (225) members known as Members of Parliament (MPs). Members are elected by proportional representation for 5 year terms, with universal suffrage. Parliament reserves the power to make all laws. The President of Sri Lanka has the power to summon, suspend, prorogue, or terminate a legislative session and to dissolve the Parliament. The Speaker or, in his absence the Deputy Speaker and Chairman of Committees or the Deputy Chairman of Committees, presides over Parliament. Prime Minister Ranasinghe Premadasa on July 4, 1979, obtained sanction from Parliament to construct a new Parliament Building at Duwa, island in the Diyawanna Oya, about 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) east of Colombo. The island was where the palace of the King Vikramabahu III's powerful Minister Nissaka Alakesvara had been situated. It had belonged to E. W. Perera prior to being vested in the state. The building was designed by architect Deshamanya Geoffrey Bawa and built with Sri Lankan funds. On April 29, 1982, the new Parliamentary Complex was declared open by President J.R. Jayewardene.

  Parliament of Sri Lanka. Great place and looks beautiful. But half of it disappears when flooding happens.

  This is a great looking building. Excellent architecture. Beautiful location. Nicely placed in the middle of the lake. Don't rate low just because you hate politicians who stay in the building. You are suppose to rate the place, not the politicians.
