  This " Siyane College "was earlier known as "Pattalagedara Training College" .Far back in 70s this was commenced under the government of Late Mrs Sirimawo Bandaranayake. The first principal was Mr Tissa Wimalasooriya. The coĺlege anthem was composed by D M I Barathiratana and music was by Late Pandith Amaradewa. Those days , the lecture halls ,quarter's and gardens were maintained in flowery and a beautiful manner with planted trees and flowers everywhere. This place can boast to have the largest main hall out of all the educational institutes. The main curtain and 6 side curtains bear the testimony for the volume of the stage. These curtains were donated by my father who did several charity programs for the collection of funds. The curtains were cut and sized at veyangoda "vetex" and coloured in the night after rolling them over the main street of veyangoda.The first drama shown at the main hall was " Dunna Dunu Gamuwe" by Sugathapala De Silva. This has an extent of 80 ac. Curent ocupation of female hostel was changed to boys and vice versa was in 1980s due to the risk of peeping toms from the nearby viĺlage . My Father Dr Upali Gunasekera was there from 1974 to 1986 and i was raised through my childhood in that premises . Recently i was going through this premises and was shocked to see the curent situation . Nothing is been maintained properly . Mrs Dulcy Sooriyapperuma was the first lady hostel warden. Mr Tom Gunawardane was the first PTI of the training college and he was instrumental in constructing the grounds. Though it was below par, had a 300 meter track . The most common thing i remember clearly was the English language abilities of those days lecturers and most of their family members.

  This is the place where my mother and my self both have been trained as teachers. I am a teacher trainee of it in 2003-2005 as the 17th batch. I respect this place, because it guide me on lot of areas to be a teacher. I am a child of mother siyane for ever.
