  A large Buddha statue here is painted with very bright colours. There arehundreds of scenes painted to show the Buddha's life. There are threeunderground storeys and there you can see the shrine room in which thewalls are decorated with murals depicting the Buddha's life

  One of a special places, peaceful and quiet. Not so many tourists. Beautiful arts of lots of Buddha's lives, before he become Budda. A very nice guide, who speaks russian a little) Here you can feel an inspiration & even spiritual experiences...

  This is a buddhist temple famous among the local travelers, but recommended for the foreign tourists as you can see lot of modern Sri Lankan frescoes

  Weherahena Pooorwaramaya Temple is 9.5 Km from the Southern Expressway exit via Matara town. The iconic sitting statue of Lord Buddha is 10m tall. Traditional stories from Buddhism are painted inside the statue. There's a large paid parking space near by.
