  A must see places in Sri Lanka. If you are looking for culture and history, it doesn't get any better than Anuradhapura. This is one of the biggest stupas in Sri Lanka and the place has its own majestic feel to it. Has wheelchair access also.

  Built by great king Mahasena in the Anuradhapura era this place represents Mahayana chapter. Accepted as the biggest Stupa in the Island. Not crowded as Ruwanweliseya , you can worship Jethawanaramaya at your ease. If you can visit in the evening it will be better. Construction works completed up to the pinnacle.

  The Sacred stupa of Jethawanarama (ජේතවනාරාම මහා දාගැබ) constructed by king Mahasen(reign: 277-304 AD). After the construction, it was the tallest man made building in the world. Current height is 122m (400ft) with its missing top spires and the upper section. Still the largest clay-brick structure in the world.
