::Kaudulla National Park is a national park on the Galoya. Historically Kaudulla was one of the 16 irrigation tanks built by King Mahasen. Lankan sambar deer, Sri Lankan axis deer, chevrotain, wild boar, Sri Lankan leopard, Gray slender loris and sloth bear are other mammals found in the park. Large water birds such as spot-billed pelican and lesser adjutant visit the Kaudulla tank. Fish species in the tank include the freshwater Oreochromis mossambicus. Fejervarya pulla is an endemic amphibian to Sri Lanka that inhabits the National Park. Freshwater turtles, Indian flap-shelled turtle and Indian black turtle are the noteworthy reptiles.

::One of the best place in Sri Lanka to watch elephants in their natural habitats. There are variety of local and foreign birds also for birdwatcing lovers.

::For elephant lovers this is a great park to observe the majestic creatures in their natural habitat. If you are there at the right season you will be surprised to see 100-300 wild elephants here grazing and playing at the edge of the reservoir called Kaudulla tank. One can observe them crossing the tank when the water is shallow before the rains. You can be assured of seeing baby elephants closely monitored by their mothers. If you are lucky you might see one or two tuskers. It is recommended to find a Japanese 4 WD vehicle if you are hiring one. It is not rare for 2 WD vehicles to get stuck in the muddy tracks at the edge of the tank. It would not be so pleasant to be bogged down when an elephant is hurriedly marching towards you!
